DMI American Legend FT500 Advantage Foosball Table Review

Durability

The DMI FT500 has a 1″ thick cabinet and weighs almost 180 pounds. A table this thick and heavy has longevity. The thicker and heavier a table is, the less it will move during play, and the more it can take. The 3/8″ playfield is thick enough to provide sturdiness so it doesn’t warp over time. The plastic men aren’t the most durable, but not as flimsy as what you would see on cheaper models.

Gameplay

The main feature is the counterbalanced men. Being able to keep the men horizontal to the surface clears the way for shots and passing. A customer said however that the men don’t always stay where they’re supposed to.

The 1″ thick cabinet and 180 lb. weight provides stability even when play is aggressive. The 3/8″ thick playfield helps it stay level over the long-run, helping limit dead spots. The height adjustment feature also helps create a level surface. However, customers reported dead spots being there.

The hollow steel rods are lighter than the solid ones. This allows for faster play, something that experienced players will enjoy. They spin and move smoothly. The wood handles add some style and professionalism.

A unique feature is the Goal Flex technology. It keeps score digitally so players can keep playing without adjusting the score. It also keeps the ball in play. However, there were some customer complaints about it:

I have no idea how this thing will work it seems that keeping the ball in play messes up the game. plus I’ve had the ball cross the goal line many times with out it falling back.

...the biggest problem is the electronic scoreboard- the connections keep falling apart and i had to try to tape the connections together and even then the electronics don’t work. DMI offered to sent a new end piece to their credit.

Aesthetics

The DMI FT500 is a great looking table. It looks professional with the rich wood finish. The black arch on the side makes it look sleek, while the the red and white men stand out against the green surface. This would look great in any game room. I don’t see anything about it that I don’t like.

Who’s It For?

This is a foosball table for beginners, intermediate players, children, and adults. It’s for anyone who wants a high quality table in the $750 range. It compares favorably to the Atomic Gladiator and the Carrom Signature, with the prices being about the same.
